Basking by the Brook :: Open

The stream passed through the lands wide and translucent. The water was green, darker in the shadows and more pale in the light, but still green. Against the noise of the birds that were welcoming the new day, the gentle murmur of the water can only just be heard, a backdrop to the musical notes coming from above.  In the soft light of the April morning, the river was like a mirror. Chinuk can feel its coolness even before he laps at it with his rosy ribbon, sending droplets scattering over the surface like rain. The relaxing water engulfed his paws, causing his muscles to ease.

As she liked to visit this place, Nashota found her favorite place to be by the waters edge, resting her head about her paws as she listened to the calming sounds of the creek flowing ever steady. She couldn't wait to reach her favorite spot as she piked her way through the forest. The female paused a moment to take in her surroundings. Of course, someone had ventured into her lands and the Alpha bristled a bit at the fact that it could be foe but also friend. Nashota snorted and walk on until she reached the end of the shrubs which did poorly to conceal her ue to her bright coat, more useful to the meadows she hunted in rather than a lush forest. At the waters edge, stood a dark male she didn't know. The female stepped forth quietly and waited. He was larger than her by slight. She might only best him in a chase, but violence wasn't her first choice. She stood there, watching him, head high, tail raised slightly to match her spine. She waited.

Chinuk's Prussian blue opticals frayed from the water's surface and averted to the lass that stood behind him. The charcoal pelted lad licked his fleshy lips, ridding them of the liquid before speaking. "My apologies, I assume this land is claimed?" he asked rhetorically. The male's muscles remained relaxed, only a hint of caution visible in his speech. "Ah, where are my manners? I'm Chinuk," he introduced himself briefly, waiting for the opposing stranger to do the same. He merely just hoped he wouldn't have to fight anyone that day.

The Alpha noted the males slight caution. He gave no indication of hostile intentions. She sucked in a breath before she spoke in response to his question. "It is." She replied bluntly. She hadn't meant to be so serious, but she hasn't seen any males in the area for a while and she felt slightly nervous and she couldn't predict movements of the stranger; she wasn't a magician after all. The female learned his name then, and nodded, tail lowering in regards to his continued calm towards her. The female sat down, a feature that meant both of them could feel more relaxed. Being at one of her favorite places helped. "Pleased to meet you." She said, trying to be sure her apache accent wasn't too thick in her words. "My name is Nashota, twin, as it is said in english." She gazed over the male curiously. "What brings you here?" She asked after a moment had passed.
