The domicile grew silent and still as an ebony silhouette shifted within the depths of the shadows. Only two oddly shaded blue luminaries were visible in this darkened area of the coniferous forest, yet, his exhales in breath showed like small pools of mist. The shadow walker's appendages summoned him forward to the calling of the hunt once again. This time for some creature much larger than his previous catch. Mule Deer. Hunting these larger beasts would sure have the pack animals realizing there was yet another loner and a problem roaming free in their territory. Coming to a halt now at the edge of the woods, spotting a small herd. His orbs stared at them until he found a calf from the past spring. No. He wanted something larger. He kept shifting his eyes from deer to deer until they landed on a decently sized buck.

Enzo's mouth grew hot as he thought of the scent taste of iron blood against his fangs. There was something about the feeling of tarring flesh from another beast that fascinated him. Shifting forward, he began to stalk towards them slowly as could be. The lead cow let out a snort of alert and he saw his chance as the herd began to scramble off. He launched his body into a full out run to catch up to his chosen target. Reaching up to the buck only took minutes which lead to him nipping at the long legs and sides of the animal to slow it down. His plan worked, as always. The buck stopped and began to swing it's antlers from left to right. Enzo allowed a long thunderous howl to escape his jaws as he lunged onto the antlers of the beast and attempted to crawl onto it's back as fast as he could. After what seemed to take hours happened. Bits and pieces of the mule deers antlers scraped against Enzo's shoulders and hind legs. He only growled in outrage, ignoring the sheer agonizing pain. Finally now, the canine crunched down with his fangs onto the back of the prey's thick neck and shook. The buck reared up to the point where it collapsed backwards with the wolf still biting down on its neck. Once he hit the ground, the canine released his grip and bolted to the head of his prey. That is where he bit down, holding both mouth and nose tightly in his grasp.  Enzo's eyes grew into slits as he felt the deer weakening and losing its breath. Mostly, this is how he would have hunted a larger animal like this with a pack but he had enough experience to do it alone. Now the buck collapsed onto the ground, giving up on life. As Enzo felt the last breath of the deer exit it's nose and mouth, he let go.

Looking down upon the deceased animal and grunted. As always once killing any animal like this, he howls. Enzo threw his head back and howled from deeply within his chest. Would this have the pack knowing of his presence? Most likely but, they had not found him yet. Enzo finished his call and began to tare into the tawny pelt of the mule deer and tarring off giant chunks, he began to drag them along while limping.. His leg and shoulders slowly seeped blood but yet this did not stop him. Limping away with pieces locked tightly within his ivory teeth into the shadows to finish his prey with the corpse of his latest victim behind in the forest...

The young black wolf opens one of his eyes with a little difficulty and sees a gray silhouette that let out a howl soon after. Then he closes his eye again with the pain "Hey, wake up." the yearling listens to an unfamiliar voice. "Hey, hey, go ahead, you loser." he opens his eyes again "Who are you?" the charcoal asks to the voice "How come you don't know who I am? Anyway, my name is Rufus, just a voice in your head... your crazy..." Chris raises his head in confusion and then lets out a soft moan. "What do you mean, Aghh, what a pain, what happened?" he asks to the voice "Pfff... You were running like an idiot and hit your head in a rock..." Rufus says. Chris sees that silhouette was a wolf and then he tried to stand up, but he can't.

The leader stood where she was, but not long after a moment, Nashota heard the pant of her advisor before she heard his voice. "Injured?" She snorted, but before the female could give more words, the male was off in search of a way down to the ravine. "Males..." she grumbled. Her concern for the unfortunate below made her slightly anxious. What if there were predators down there? What about a cougar? They liked ravines. She sighed, feeling helpless in her wait.

When a howl rose above the ditch, Nashota stood and took the path she had watched Enzo take stepping carefully. She bumped into his front, bopping heads with him. "Ouch!" She hissed. "What did you find?" She whispered, pawing at the spot where it hurt.

The female worried of what could be down there. The howls in distress were quite the alarm to Nashota, and yet, there was not sense of urgency as distinct as she had thought it would be. They had gone down into the ravine, but it was shaded well and Nashota could only make out things that were up close.

As she waited for Enzos response, she heard a voice up high and the females ears perked with interest. Cardi, a female Nashota had also sent out on errand had returned just in time. She snorted at cardi. "Come down, Cardi." Nashota replied. "We need your help." She glanced below, then up top. "Be careful, take the path to your left. There may be a pair of injured wolves down here."

While staring into the abyss with squinted blue orbs where the two vagabond canines remained the deputy lost focus on his chief for a split second. Within the short time frame the las had managed to join his side and bump into his cranium. With a low groan, he looked at her and huffed out in a reply from her original question, "There's two in there somewhere. I can smell blood as well. Haven't got a reply back. I'm a bit hesitant on entering with the mountain lions around, not to mention the snakes." He added a small chuckle before commenting, "Also, take it easy on my head. I don't get my smarts from thin air." Shaking his bi-colored pelt the brute refocused on the task before them. It were not long before another soon appeared to join them in this odd predicament. Cardi's voice sounded out after she had greeted he and Nashota. He chuckled lightly to himself at her mention of the party being up there instead of in the ravine. "Suppose I should head on in though, rather put myself in this situation more than you two." he said while turning his gaze back into the dark.
